Lawful speech wins—even when it is rude, unpopular, offensive, or wrong.

1. Our free-expression commitment

MyLocalPost is a private application owned and operated by CauseWork. The First Amendment restricts government action; it does not require a private platform to carry every message. Even so, MyLocalPost voluntarily adopts the American tradition of vigorous lawful expression as a core operating principle. We do not remove lawful speech merely because it is unpopular, political, religious, controversial, harsh, insulting, or alleged to be hateful.

2. No community moderators

MyLocalPost does not appoint volunteer or community moderators to police opinions, politics, disagreements, or tone. CauseWork maintains a narrow professional legal, safety, and platform-integrity function. That function exists to apply these published rules, respond to credible safety concerns, and satisfy legal obligations—not to enforce neighborhood popularity or ideological agreement.

3. Disagreement is not abuse

Offense is not the same as danger, and hurt feelings are not a veto. A statement such as “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever read, you moron” may be rude and may damage the speaker’s reputation, but it is not automatically a platform violation. Criticism of ideas, institutions, religions, political movements, public officials, candidates, businesses, organizations, and community decisions is permitted when lawful.

4. Your block button, your boundary

Any user may block another user. Blocking is the immediate personal remedy for speech or contact a user does not want to see. A block does not declare either person correct, punish an opinion, or require CauseWork to remove otherwise lawful content from the wider community.

5. Reporting is open to everyone

Users may report any post, comment, profile, message, advertisement, listing, livestream, or account, including content believed to vilify, humiliate, threaten, or encourage violence against people because of race, color, religion, ethnicity, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or another protected characteristic. The reporting mechanism accepts complaints without requiring the reporter to select a legally perfect category.

A report brings content to CauseWork’s attention. It is not proof of wrongdoing, a vote against another user, or a guarantee of removal, restriction, an individualized response, or the outcome requested by the reporter. The Report button is not a “disagree” button.

6. When CauseWork may act

CauseWork may preserve evidence, limit distribution, restrict features, remove content, suspend an account, disclose information, or make a legally required report when reasonably necessary to address a published platform rule, credible safety risk, valid legal process, or legal obligation. Matters that may require action include credible threats; incitement of imminent unlawful conduct; targeted criminal harassment or stalking; doxxing or disclosure of private information that facilitates harm; child abuse, sexual exploitation, or human trafficking; nonconsensual intimate imagery or qualifying digital forgeries; fraud, scams, impersonation, or illegal transactions; copyright infringement; court orders; malware, spam, or attacks on the service; and prohibited adult sexual content.

Racist, hateful, degrading, or dehumanizing expression may be reported and reviewed. Such characterization alone does not automatically make speech illegal or require removal. CauseWork evaluates whether the content crosses a published rule or legal line, including a credible threat, unlawful discrimination in a commercial activity, targeted criminal conduct, or incitement satisfying the applicable legal standard.

7. Required reporting, preservation, and removal

Where applicable law requires CauseWork to report apparent child sexual exploitation or trafficking, preserve specified records, process a legally sufficient removal request, respond to valid legal process, or take another action, CauseWork will comply. MyLocalPost does not promise to monitor every communication or affirmatively search every user’s content, and a legal reporting duty does not create a general surveillance program.

8. Reputation follows speech

MyLocalPost is a community platform. Lawful speech may remain, but users live with the community reputation their words create. Freedom to speak is not freedom from disagreement, criticism, blocking, lost trust, or lawful consequences imposed by other people and organizations.

9. Consistent decisions and records

CauseWork may record reports, relevant evidence, timestamps, preservation steps, decisions, rule or legal bases, and appeals in order to apply this policy consistently, protect users, and demonstrate compliance. Access to those records is restricted according to role, purpose, and law.
